Earlier in June at the their weekly meeting the Marion Rotary Club awarded McDowell 4-H and McDowell EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program) checks to help use for our clients.

McDowell 4-H received a check for $1500 to provide scholarships for McDowell 4-Hers to attend residential summer camp in July at Betsy Jeff-Penn 4-H Educational Center in Reidsville, North Carolina. Campers will spend the week swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, doing high ropes, arts and crafts and many other traditional summer camp activities. Camp costs $575 per youth and this money will help make camp more affordable to local families. We are taking 13 youth this summer.

McDowell EFNEP coordinator Janet Bryan received a check for $750 to help buy food and supplies for her nutrition classes. Ms. Janet works with the schools to provide nutrition education and healthy snacks for students. This money will be used to help provide more healthy snacks for our students.

A huge thank you to the Marion Rotary for giving back to our programs!
