Adopt-a-Road Volunteer Training Winter 2020
Do you notice litter on the side of the road where you live, work, or play? Do you want to do something about it? Join us for volunteer training to learn about safety and best practices for conducting roadside cleanups.
When: 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, January 17, 2020
Where: N.C. Cooperative Extension of McDowell County, 2nd-floor conference room, McDowell County Administration Building, 60 E. Court St. Marion
NC Department of Transportation runs the Adopt-A-Highway program and has fantastic resources to help volunteers stay safe while removing litter from the roadside.
The City of Marion in partnership with Keep McDowell Beautiful coordinate the Adopt-A-Street program, modeled after the NCDOT and other high-quality programs across the country.
If you are a leader of volunteers this training will help you organize your people, request free supplies from the State, County, or City, and report your clean up for the proper people to pick it up in a timely manner. If your a volunteer on a clean up this training will help you identify potentially dangerous situations, and teach you what to do to keep your people safe.
If you’re unable to walk the roadside and pick up trash, this training will help you to be involved as a volunteer driver, volunteer recruiter, or in event promotion. There are ways for everyone to help Keep McDowell Beautiful!
If you are unable to attend but have a group of volunteers who need training, call us at (828) 652-8104. With a group of volunteers, we can bring the training to you!
