What better way to learn something new or to brush up on skills than to take a hands on class.  This summer N.C. Cooperative Extension, McDowell County Center will partner to offer hands on canning classes at the Foothills Foodhub, Sue Glovier Teaching Kitchen.

Research shows that actually experiencing the process makes people more likely to practice those food safety recommendations such as canning and preserving when they are in their homes.  These classes will cover the various canning techniques and give participants the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the reasons behind some of the current recommendations which may be different than the ways we canned in the past.

To find out more information or to register, call the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, McDowell County Center at (828) 652-8104.  Each class will cost $10 for supplies.  Come learn with others and get to take home a tasty sample of what we can.  Class sizes are limited so register early.
