Are you interested in starting your own farming operation, or are you new to farming?  Want to sharpen your knowledge and skills?  If so, the Small Farm Boot Camp may be for you.

This upcoming January through March, N.C. Cooperative Extension – McDowell County Center will be hosting a Small Farm Boot Camp.  The Small Farm Boot Camp was developed by North Carolina Cooperative Extension Local Food Program.  It is designed for those interested in exploring farming as well as market gardeners, homesteaders, and new and beginning farmers.  The workshops provide the technical knowledge and skills needed to get started with farming.  This program is seven modules with topics like understanding your local food system,  selecting market channels, soil health, vegetable production, small fruits, season extension, post-harvest handling & food safety, and putting it all together.

You may take one, two, or all modules, but you must register.  All classes will be held in the Extension Conference Room, 2nd Floor, County Services Building, 60 East Court Street, Marion.  All classes start at 6 p.m.
