Cold Weather Blues?

Has the cooler weather put a stop to your outside play with the kids? Are you trying to get them off the gaming systems and trying to get them to move more? Here are some fun ideas to get them up and moving, all while staying inside where it's warm!

Balloon Volleyball/Don't Let The Balloon Touch the Floor
You can use a balloon like a volleyball and hit it back and forth. Move a chair to be the net or tie a string across the room. Play until one team gets to 10 points. If it's too easy, only use one hand. If that's still easy, use no hands and hit it with whatever you can!
See how many times you and your partner can hit the balloon back and forth to each other, not letting it hit the floor. See above rules about hand use if this gets too easy.

Obstacle Course
Create an obstacle course throughout the house. Have places where "the floor is lava" or there is a low hanging bridge you have to duck under. If space is tight, you can do a scavenger hunt. Hide a certain object and place clues all over the house that you have to solve riddles to get to the next clue.

Follow the leader is always a fun one when small children are involved. There are several dance with me videos you can find online as well. Let them use their imagination and create their own movement games. Have fun and get moving!
