Summer Thrive is a program that provides fun, outdoor activities for families at the Marion Community Park each Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Summer Thrive starts on June 10 and will continue through August 19.
McDowell 4-H will be hosting Summer Thrive with McDowell 4-H on Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Marion Community Park. McDowell 4-H has fun activities planned that will be focused around the 4 H's--Head, Heart, Hands, & Health.
Head--Nature Scavenger Hunt. Use your knowledge, skills, and senses to take in the nature that surrounds you. Your mission will be to find items often found in nature. Stop and smell the roses, and take in your beautiful surroundings.
Head--Digging into Fun with Worm Composting. Matt and the Red Wigglers never disappoint. Enjoyed by young and old. Come get your hands dirty, and learn how you can recycle your organic waste at home.
Heart-Jumpstart Your Heart. Fun and exhilarating jump rope activities to get your heart pumping!
Hands-Pinecone Bird Feeders. Use your hands a make a pinecone bird feeder. Your neighborhood birds will love you for it.
Health-Blind Veggie Taste Testing. Nothing gross or nasty, but fresh, healthy veggies. See if you know your veggies without seeing what you are putting in your mouth.
We will also have some seeds to giveaway, and experts will be there to answer your plant questions. Bring the whole family. It's always FUN with McDowell 4-H!
