McDowell County 4-H Lamb Project

Is your child interested in doing a 4-H livestock project?

The McDowell County 4-H Lamb Project provide youth with an opportunity to care for and show a lamb at no cost. Participants will receive a loaner lamb to care for, train and show at the McDowell County Jr Livestock Show in August. This program is designed to not only teach about daily care of sheep and how to train them for show but also responsibility and work ethic.

Lambs will be housed at the McDowell Agricultural Center located at 188 Agricultural Services Drive in Marion.  Participants will be responsible for traveling to the McDowell Agricultural Center to feed and take care of their lamb throughout program.

Registration is limited and due by June 10th. Multiple youth may be assigned to the same lamb depending on the number of participants.

By registering for this program, youth agree to participate in the following:

Orientation - June 22nd

Weekly Programs - June 22nd - August 13th

Showmanship Practice and Show Prep Days - TBD

McDowell County Jr Livestock Show - August

Submitting a 4-H Project Record Books
