McDowell 4-Hers Attend Camp

(Updated: July 30, 2025, 6:06 p.m.)

During the week of July 6, thirteen McDowell 4-Hers attended a week long traditional camp at Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Camp in Reidsville.  They joined over 150 youth from across the state to spend a week hiking, swimming, canoeing, climbing and many more traditional camp activities.  For six of the campers, this was their first overnight camp experience.  They endured rain throughout the week, but had a great time.  We would like to thank North Carolina 4-H and the Marion Rotary Club for providing scholarships to help make their week more affordable for each of the families.

Camping is one of the oldest traditions in 4-H and many life long memories are made.  We go a week each summer, so if your youth would be interested for 2026 and will be between the ages of 8-14 next summer give us a call, and I can get you more information.

Campers this year were Danica Wylie, Anna Watkins, Liam Thomas, Greylan Kellogg, Zoey Schetter, Luke Olson,Donovan Sierra, Axel Arriolla, Victor Velarde, Baylee Kinman, Macie Johnson, Dalton Martin and Luke Stockton.
