Do you find yourself talking to your tomato plants? Do friends come to you for advice on their gardens? If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could spend more time in the garden AND give back to my community,” then we’ve got just the thing for you!
The Extension Master Gardener℠ Program of McDowell County is looking for new volunteers who are ready to dig in—literally and figuratively. This volunteer program is your chance to learn more about gardening while helping others in our community grow their own knowledge. From soil to seeds, veggies to pollinators, you’ll become part of a statewide network that shares research-based gardening know-how with North Carolina citizens.
Here’s how it works:
🌿Training kicks off this November – you’ll dive into everything from botany basics to cool veggies.
🌿 After the classroom learning, you’ll complete an internship, rolling up your sleeves to share your new skills through community projects, workshops, and more.
🌿 Once you’re certified, you’ll continue volunteering (and learning!) while making McDowell County a greener, healthier place.
