Ready to make 2026 your most fun year yet? Whether you want to polish up those family photos, track down your long-lost ancestors, or find the best local hiking trails or fishing spots, North Carolina Cooperative Extension-McDowell Center and the McDowell County Library has you covered.

We’re hosting a series of FREE digital skills workshops designed specifically for seniors. No jargon, no stress—just fun, hands-on learning in a relaxed environment. Grab a friend and join us Wednesdays in January!

What’s on the Calendar?

January 14: Intro to Photo Editing ToolsBlurry vacation photos? Random people in the photo? We’ll show you simple, free tools to edit your digital pictures so they’re ready for framing or sharing with family and friends.

January 21: Digital GenealogyBecome the family detective. Unlock the secrets of your past! Learn how to use online databases and digital archives to build your family tree and preserve your heritage for generations to come. Your family will love you for it.

January 28: Outdoor Adventure AppsExplore the great outdoors with confidence. From local walking paths to favorite fishing spots, learn how to use apps to find trails, identify birds, check the weather, and stay safe while enjoying the fresh air.

Why Attend?

Aside from picking up some cool new skills, these workshops are a great way to meet neighbors and share a few laughs. Plus, there’s nothing quite like the "aha!" moment when technology finally does what you want it to do.  

Feel free to bring your own smartphone, tablet, or laptop, but it’s not required to participate!  We can't wait to see you there and start exploring the digital world together!
