The countdown to the NC Mountain State Fair has begun. The backbone of any fair are the exhibits. It's the main reason I attend the fair to see all the horticulture, floriculture, honey, agronomic crops, photography, arts, crafts...the list goes on. All these exhibits are entered by people like you and me, young and old.
In McDowell County, we have a wealth of talented gardeners, honey producers, food preservationist, crafters, and photographers. Please consider making a fair entry. All general exhibits are free to enter and are open to all NC residents. The Mountain State Fair only allows for online submissions. If you need help with online entry, please come by the Extension Office, County Services Building, 60 East Court Street, Marion, 2nd Floor.
For non-perishable items, you may use the Pony Express to get your fair entry to the Mountain State Fair. Entries should be in the Extension Office on or before August 22. Pony Express items will be returned to the Extension Office after the fair.
Learn more about Mountain State Fair Competitions. Again, I urge you to enter your Rattlesnake beans, pumpkins, peppers, tomatoes, quilts, crafts...Let's bring home some blue ribbons!
The NC Mountain State Fair will run from September 9-18.
