During the week of July 9, eleven McDowell County 4-Hers attended a week-long residential summer camp at Betsy Jeff Penn 4-H Camp in Reidsville. Campers went swimming, horseback riding, canoeing, and so much more. Over 150 kids from across the state attended camp this week. The older youth participated in the Trekker program. The Trekkers canoed down the Dan River and went rock climbing at Pilot Mountain State Park. This is always a highlight of our summer program, and many lifelong memories were made.
McDowell 4-Hers attended camp at a reduced rate because of donations from Farm Bureau-McDowell, Marion Rotary and National 4-H. Camp is for youth 8-14, and if anyone is interested in information about attending next summer, please call Chad Ray at 828-652-8104.
Campers were Danica Wiley, Adisyn Jenkins, Zoey Schetter, Alexis Tomas, Jovani Rodriguez, Liam Thomas, Greylan Kellogg, Donovan Sierra, Victor Velarde, Axel Arriola and Dalton Martin.
