Information Sessions for Extension Master Food Volunteer (EMFV) Program
Come to an information session to learn more about how the program works. Through this program, volunteers are trained by Cathy Hohenstein, our Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Agent to support our community through education and outreach efforts and to promote local food as they deliver high-quality, evidence-based programs.
During the training, Volunteers will receive 30 hours of core curriculum sessions in topics like Nutrition, Food Safety, Cooking Skills, Risk Management, Changing Health Behaviors, and Local Foods. Along with the core training, volunteers will work with the FCS Agent during their first year, to get a better sense of how to put their knowledge into practice. Volunteer opportunities include working with community partners doing nutrition education and cooking classes, cooking demonstrations at farmers markets and food pantries, kids cooking camps, and community health fairs, among others.
There will be 1 hour information sessions on April 15th with varying times to hopefully meet peoples availability.
If this sounds interesting to you and you want more information please fill out this information form and Cathy will get back in touch with you.
