Volun-FUN-Tastic: Learn About the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program

(Updated: Sept. 7, 2025, 5:57 p.m.)

The Extension Master Gardener℠ program can be a fun, rewarding experience.  The first step in becoming an Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteer (EMGV) in McDowell County is attending an information session.  During this session, you will learn what it means to be an EMGV, and the training and volunteer requirements for the program.  This will help you decide if becoming an EMGV is the right choice for you.

Information Session scheduled for:

September 23, 12 p.m., (Registration Link), Extension Conference Room, 2nd Floor, County Services Building.

To help you decide if you should apply to become an Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteer, consider these questions:
  • Do you want to learn about the culture and maintenance of different types of plants?
  • Am I eager to participate in a practical and intense training program?
  • Do I look forward to sharing my knowledge with people in my community?
  • Do I have enough time to attend training and to complete volunteer service?
