echnology has evolved and continues to evolve whether we like it or not.  We receive information in a variety of ways.  Uncle Sam and the US Postal Service is still reliable when sending mail, but often times, we like to get information quickly.  Electronic mail and the internet has made getting information quickly.

Text messaging is another alternative in this expanded universe of delivering and receiving information.  Text messaging has numerous applications from consumer-to-consumer communications, notifications, and alerts.

To assist in getting relevant information out in a timely manner to a larger audience, N.C. Cooperative Extension–McDowell Center is launching a text alert service.  You can now sign up for text alerts from the McDowell County Center in your area of interest.  We will never spam your phone, but will provide you with quick messages that alert you to events and information relevant to your interests.  You can choose to receive information targeted to:  Agriculture/Farmer/Producer, Home Horticulture, Keep McDowell Beautiful, 4-H & Youth, or Nutrition & Wellness.
