North Carolina Cooperative Extension is based at North Carolina's two land-grant institutions, NC State University and NC A&T State University, in all 100 counties and on the Cherokee Reservation. McDowell County 4-H Summer Discovery 2008 4-H Summer Discovery is a collection of educational workshops, field trips, and hands-on activities planned especially for McDowell County youth. This special program is designed to give youth positive learning opportunities and focus on developing life skills. Summer Discovery is made possible by dedicated 4-H volunteers and McDowell County Cooperative Extension Service staff. Through educational programs, publications, and events, Cooperative Extension agents deliver unbiased, research-based information to McDowell County citizens.
