Tailgate Markets Last year the Historic Marion Tailgate Market was a huge success. The local agricultural movement continues to grow, and so does the demand for fresh locally grown products. This year there will be two farmer’s markets operating in McDowell County. The Historic Old Fort Tailgate Market will open on June 25th and will operate every Thursday while supplies of produce last. The market will be located in the parking lot of the depot at 25 Hwy 70 West, Old Fort, NC. The market will be open from 3 pm until 6 pm. The Historic Marion Tailgate Market will open on June 30th and will operate every Tuesday while supplies of produce last. The market will again be located in the city parking lot at the intersection of Logan and West Henderson, in Marion. The market will be open from 3 pm until 6 pm.
