Canning season is here and whether you are new to canning or just want to brush up on the latest inforamtion, Hands-On classes can be fun! They offer you a chance to learn more about canning or just get the latest information in a relaxed way while practicing the steps needed to safely preserve your food for later in the year. Recommendations can change over time and some of our older recipes or ways to preserve foods may not be considered as safe anymore. Here are some classes coming up in July and August. Making Grape Jelly!
Tuesday July 21st. 10am to 2pm
Grape Jelly is a long time favorite. Join us as we cover extracting juice from grapes and also how to make jelly from commercial juice to save time. This is a good class for learning how to can our high acid fruits using a boiling water bath canner. Bring your jelly and preserving questions. Cost is $10. It's Salsa Time!
Tuesday, July 28th 10am to 2pm
Salsas come in many varieties. Come learn a simple salsa recipe where you can vary the amounts of peppers and onions while still having a safe product to preserve in a boiling water bath to have throughout the year. We will also cover fresh salsas and share different salsa recipes to try at home. Cost $10. Register to secure your spot since spaces are limited.
Summertime Chow Chow!
Tuesday August 4th 10am to 2pm
Chow Chow is a great way to use a variety of our low acid vegetables and create a high acid product which is safe to preserve using a boiling water bath canner. Join us as we learn more about chow chow, pickles, relishes and other acidified foods. Cost $10. Register to secure your spot since spaces are limited.
