Since school has been out McDowell County 4-H has been busy! This year we have had more kids participating than we ever had before. We have been taking two van loads to about all of our activities. So far we have been gem mining, hiking, fishing, making bread and butter, played disc golf, visited Lake James State Park, creek stomping and even more hiking. The rest of the summer we will be having kids go to 4-H camp, visiting museums, going to Biltmore Farms, hiking and so much more fun stuff. A special thanks to the staff of the McDowell Cooperative Extension Office. Everyone has really stepped up and made these opportunities available for the youth of McDowell.

All of our spots are full for this summer but if you are interested in joining the fun next year go ahead and contact Chad Ray about how to get involved next year!A group of children pose together on a scenic overlook.
