Each year McDowell 4-H awards a $500 college scholarship to a 4-H'er from McDowell County.  This year's recipient is Jocelyn Childres of Pleasant Gardens.  Jocelyn graduated this past June from McDowell High.  She is planning to spend her first two years at McDowell Technical Community College and plans to transfer to a 4-year university to get a degree in business.

Jocelyn has been very active in 4-H for the past 7 years with the McDowell Young Guns shooting program.  Her favorite thing to shoot is archery, but she has also competed in shotgun and smallbore pistol.  She enjoys photography and was the photographer for the McDowell High yearbook.  Congratulations to Jocelyn and we wish you the best of luck with all your future endeavors.
