On Saturday March 15th, McDowell 4-H joined 16 teams from the area at the annual District 8 Nc Wildlife Hunter Education Skills Tournament held at Catawba Valley Wildlife Club in Vale, North Carolina. Teams compete in Archery, Rifle, Shotgun and Hunter Skills. McDowell was the only 4-H group participating going against teams from middle and high schools. 16 McDowell County 4-Hers Participated: Daniel McManus, Gracie Davis, Brady Keller, Garrison Dietrich, Cutter Greene, Hayden Edwards, Hunter Jimeson, Liam Thomas, Caitlyn Waldroup, Elijah Piveronas, Jacob Owenby, Ryder Greene, Alexi Piveronas, James Davis, Gannon Hicks and Curtis Piveronas.
Hayden Edwards tied for first place in shotgun shooting a perfect score. Our Junior team placed 3rd in Rifle, Shotgun, Archery, Hunter Skills and Overall.
I want to give a big congratulations to everyone for their dedication and hardwork. We will begin practicing for our summer 4-H tournament in June.
