Help McDowell 4-H “Share the Warmth”

— Written By and last updated by

As the temperatures start dropping and Old Man Winter starts nipping at our noses we would like to introduce an opportunity to “Share the Warmth” with others in McDowell County. We have partnered with M.A.T.C.H (McDowell Access To Care and Health) to help provide some badly needed items for this cold time of year. From now until December 15, 2020, we are asking the community to donate gloves, hats, scarves, blankets, hand and feet warmers, hot chocolate packets, new or gently used coats, and anything else that can help keep members of our community right here in McDowell County to stay warm. M.A.T.C.H. will facilitate distribution of these items to their clients, to people at food distributions and other community events.

If you would like to donate but do not have items we will gladly accept cash or checks and will purchase items for the drive. Any businesses or community locations that would like to have a drop-off site located at our facility please let me know and I will add to our distribution list. For now, items can be dropped off at the N.C. Cooperative Extension of McDowell County office located at 60 East Court St in Marion. If you have any questions or would like to become a drop-off location please contact Chad Ray at 828-652-8104 or
