2019 N.C. 4-H Livestock Contest

McDowell County’s 4-H Youth Livestock team traveled to Raleigh on July 25 and 26 to compete at the 2019 North Carolina 4-H Livestock Contest. The team and individuals represented McDowell County well. Below are the show results:

Junior Division:

Ethan Laws- 1st place Cattle, 5th place oral reasons, 1st place overall

Intermediate Division:

Logan Crisp- 3rd place meat goats

Senior Division:

Molly Anderson- 4th place sheep, 10th place meat goats, 8th place swine, 5th place overall

Colton Cox- 2nd place cattle, 9th place swine, 2nd place oral reasons, 9th place overall

The senior team which includes: Molly Anderson, Colton Cox, Haylee Laws, and Emily Davis, placed 3rd in sheep, 2nd in cattle and 3rd in oral reasons.

Alyson Biddix from the senior team place 10th in quality assurance and the senior team, (Alyson Biddix, Hannah Ellis, Molly Anderson and Colton Cox) placed 3rd in the written test.

Ethan Laws finished out the contest taking home 5th in the skillathon evaluation, 5th in quality assurance, and 7th place overall junior.
