volunteers are invited to participate in an event cleaning up McDowell County’s Catawba River Park. The Keep McDowell Beautiful program will be providing lunch and supporting volunteers to collect trash and debris along the Catawba River. Volunteers on foot will meet at the Catawba River Park on Old Greenlee Rd. and clean the river between 1 and 4 p.m. Volunteers will dispose of their trash at the front parking lot to be collected by McDowell County Public Works. Supplies will be available that morning on site or can be acquired ahead of the event. Groups are encouraged to pre-register by contacting Matt Burneisen with N.C.
