Image of carton of vegetablesEfforts to build a facility that will house a commercial and teaching kitchen, a farmer wash and storage area, a pantry warehouse distribution site have been underway in McDowell County. A feasibility study was completed in March 2017. One of the recommendations from the feasibility study was to hire a Project Developer to develop the site. Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust along with Community Foundations of Western North Carolina granted funds to Isothermal Planning & Development Commission to hire a project developer.
Heather Yzquierdo Consulting will be partnering with Alan Steinbeck of 3TP Ventures as the Project Developer. Heather Yzquierdo has been invested in food access and the local food system development in McDowell County for the last 5 years. She has been a leader in the local food movement and an advocate for those most in need. She was an early thought leader for the Community Food and Health Hub. She has been actively involved as a member of the Local Food Access and Awareness workgroup and as chair of the McDowell Local Food Advisory Council. In addition to her work in leadership roles for the community, she has also been involved as a volunteer for various projects that support the food insecure families in the community.
Heather has over 20 years of experience managing projects as a consultant and as an employee at both Fortune 500 companies and small startup companies. She has a broad range of marketing experience that spans multiple channels, television, radio, print and direct mail. She has also been responsible for database marketing and data modeling programs, conducting needs assessments and translating business requirements to technical solutions.
