Young Guns Compete at Wildlife Hunter Education Tournament

DSCN9205 (2)On March 19th McDowell 4-H Young Guns shooting team competed at the District 8 NC Wildlife Hunter Education Tournament held in Vale, NC. Over 20 teams competed in shotgun, archery, rifle and hunter skills events. Sixteen youth from McDowell Young Guns competed.

McDowell’s Junior team finished 3rd overall with Brady Lawing ending the day as the top junior in Archery and Rifle.

McDowell’s Senior team finished 3rd overall in Archery. James Bryan won a tie-breaker shoot off to be top individual in shotgun. Bryan was also awarded top overall senior for accumulating the most points total in all of the events. Lawing and Bryan both qualified to go to the state tournament to be held in Ellerbe, North Carolina April 30th.
